CDM Coordinators are responsible for advising and assisting clients to comply with their duties under the regulations, in particular to ensure the project is properly managed and that competent designers and contractors are appointed.

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 state:

“Every Employer shall appoint one or more competent persons to assist him in the measures he needs to take to comply with the requirements and prohibitions imposed upon him by the relevant statutory provisions and by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005”

More and more insurers are visiting the risks they insure to carry out surveys which often pick up on Health and Safety issues such as risk assessments, PAT testing, policy, competent source of advice, training and existing risks.
