Health and Safety Policies

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 Section 2 (3) requires that all companies employing 5 or more people must have a written H&S Policy.

Whether you need bespoke, a review of your existing or a complete overhaul, we will produce a policy that meets your needs and demonstrates legal compliance while also showing that you have a solid management system for your business.

All our policies can be utilised to a variety of standards whether it be for awards, accreditations or quality assurance.

Risk Assessment

Risk Assessment is the driving force behind good Health and Safety Management but it can be a minefield in terms of knowing where to start.

We will come to your place of work and carry out your risk assessments; for your workplace, your processes and activities within your premises, producing a clear risk control action plan in order for you to fully comply with Health and Safety Legislation.

Alternatively we can train selected members of your workforce on how to complete your own risk assessments with back up and expert support provided from our highly qualified consultants whenever you require.

Fire Risk Assessment

Each year people die or are seriously injured as a result of fires at work. Besides loss of life, fire costs UK businesses millions of pounds, from damage to property, loss of business, fines, compensation claims and increased insurance premiums.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires all businesses to produce a Fire Risk Assessment for all its premises.

We can visit your workplace and deliver the appropriate and compliant Fire Risk Assessment; we’ll even provide you with a free log book for you to record tests, checks and inspections.

Once complete we won’t just leave the assessment with you, we will sit down and report our findings and explain how this will impact upon your business.

Competent Source of Advice

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 state:

“Every Employer shall appoint one or more competent persons to assist him in the measures he needs to take to comply with the requirements and prohibitions imposed upon him by the relevant statutory provisions and by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005”

For many SMEs a full time safety advisor is often not practical particularly in terms of cost.

Let Us Help You

We can act as your competent source of advice meaning we can answer all your Health and Safety questions and provide advice face to face, over the phone or via email, providing your company with vital support and answers on all Health and Safety related topics.

You can then relax in the knowledge that you will be addressing your obligations, supported by professionally qualified experts with many years of experience assisting UK and international businesses.

Audits

The old adage that if you can't measure it you can't manage it applies to Health and Safety the same as it would any other management activity. Measurement is essential if you are to improve Health and Safety within your company. This requires both proactive and active systems that monitor ongoing performance.

Does your company check to see if Health and Safety controls are being correctly followed? Or check to see how well its systems are working?

If the answer to any of the above is NO then you are missing out on valuable opportunities to improve your companies Health and Safety performance which can massively benefit your company, not least in increased productivity of employees.

Working with RHSS Limited you can rest assured that the inspections and audits we will carry out will identify any improvements that may be necessary in order to prevent workplace accidents, while ensuring full compliance with Health and Safety legislation that applies to your business.

Health and Safety Training

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 state:

“Every employer shall ensure that his employees are provided with adequate Health and Safety training…..”

See our Training section for a list of courses which we can provide either at your place of work or at one of our training centres.

Insurer Risk Improvements

Insurers expect you to comply with the law, which means complying with Health and Safety Legislation.

More and more insurers are visiting the risks they insure to carry out surveys which often pick up on Health and Safety issues such as risk assessments, PAT testing, policy, competent source of advice, training and existing risks. If these are not in place or actioned it could mean that you are not insured or the insurer may remove cover.

We specialise in remedying risk improvements from all the main insurers and we can put the solutions into a tailored package so that it is cost effective and compliant.

Questionnaires / Accreditations

Those bigger clients that you want to work with are becoming more and more focussed on Health and Safety in their supply chain. This is why you may find yourself completing questionnaires a couple of times a month even before putting your proposal together.

This is where RHSS Limited come in. Our policies and management systems are designed around these questionnaires so that you can get approved and demonstrate compliance thus getting to a shortlist and hopefully winning that next contract.

It is important to remember that evidence of what has been done must be provided not just bits of paper with policies and arrangements on. We supply guidance and support on Exor, CHAS, Safe Contractor, Constructionline and main contractor questionnaires and we can even complete these for you.

SME Packages

From our expereince and in light of the commercial disasters that occur all around the world we know that even massive corporations cannot comply with Health and Safety requirements all of the time.

We can devise specific packages around your business that can grow as you grow and meet the demands of the business. We can also prioritise risks and legislative requirements in action plans over various periods of time to suit budgets and resources of all sizes. We will advise you of where you are falling short and how to put things right but we appreciate things cannot be done overnight.

We have solutions for new start ups, businesses that have no Health and Safety in place whatsoever, and for those buisinesses who have out grown their current providers.
